Tryphosa is Ess' slave, captured after the Battle of Faliara and given to her as a gift by her mother, Queen Hippolyte. She's brash, cheerful, and seems astoundingly tall and well-built for a non-Amazon. She also seems unusually strong - able to lift the Sword of Artemis with one hand - but is afflicted by a noticeable limp, attributed to a childhood injury. She seems extremely loyal to Ess, but is quite prone to inadvertently upsetting her mistress, especially as Ess' strength pales in comparison to her own. She means well but seems a bizarre choice of slave for the meek and unconfident Ess. Just what was the Queen thinking?
